Ships galore
The Port of Felixstowe sees more than 3,000 vessels dock each year, including some of the largest in the world.
This year, the port has already had visits from the 400-metre long MSC Loreto, which at the time was the largest container ship in the world, and the OOCL Felixstowe, a 399-metre vessel capable of holding more than 24,000 containers.
Trade links across the world
Not only does the Suffolk port boast the largest amount of containerised goods flowing through it than any other port in the UK, it is connected to hundreds of ports across the world.
The Port of Felixstowe offers 33 services to and from more than 700 ports across the globe, making it among the best connected ports on Earth.
Massive capacity
The Port of Felixstowe boasts nine berths across two terminals, including the Trinity Terminal – one of the longest continuous quays in Europe.
To tackle this amount of cargo, the port is equipped with 29 ship-to-shore gantry cranes along the quay, with a further 88 rubber-tyred gantry cranes.
The port has the capacity to store a massive 152,000 containers across its yards.
A major employer in the region
You may know someone who works at the port – but you may not realise the sheer scale of how many people work at the port every day.
The Port of Felixstowe employs more than 2,500 people at the port itself, however hundreds more are based around the port, with thousands of staff employed by companies that support its work.
